The best part of this Orange Cranberry Sauce (other than how delicious it is) is how easy it is. In fact, it’s so easy that you almost don’t even need a written recipe for it. Granted, it’s not quite as easy as popping open a can and plopping some stuff on a plate (looking at you weird cranberry jell-o sauce), but the little bit of extra effort is definitely worth it.
With how simple and delicious this dish is, it really baffles me how anyone could choose the canned stuff over this! It’s a really quick and easy way to upgrade your Thanksgiving or Christmas spread.
Orange Cranberry Sauce Ingredients
This recipe uses one package of fresh cranberries, one cup of sugar, and one cup of liquid, split between orange juice and water. Throw in a pinch of kosher salt and some orange zest at the end for good measure, and you’ve got one of the easiest and most delicious holiday side dishes!
- Granulated Sugar
- Water
- Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice
- Fresh Cranberries
- Orange Zest
- Kosher Salt
Combine the sugar, water, and orange juice, then bring to a boil to create an orange simple syrup. Once boiling, add the cranberries and bring back to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 10 minutes until thickened. Remove from the heat, and once everything cools for a few minutes, add the salt and then toss in the orange zest.
