What’s a cheeseburger without burger sauce, you ask??? Sad…that’s what! And this Pickled Okra Burger Sauce is here to save you from depressingly dry burgers. Classic burger sauce ingredients like mayonnaise, ketchup and mustard are used but the addition of pickled okra instead of dill relish adds just enough of a kick to keep things interesting!
Pickled Okra Burger Sauce Ingredients
This is pretty much a classic burger sauce recipe, but with pickled okra and a little bit of their brine instead of dill relish. Dill relish works in place of pickled okra, but it will definitely be a more standard-tasting sauce. I prefer to use the Wickles brand Pickled Okra, since it has a perfect balance of sweetness and heat! Any brand would work, however.
Here is a complete list of ingredients:
- Mayonnaise
- Mustard
- Ketchup
- Pickled Okra
- Distilled White Vinegar
- Kosher Salt
- Black Pepper
The sauce is fairly mustard-forward (by design, of course). As such, it has a little bit more punchiness to it than other sauces. If you’re not a big mustard fan, I would recommend cutting the amount used in half, then adjusting to your tastes as needed. A few dashes of hot sauce would be a welcome addition as well! Absolutely feel free to get creative with it – that’s half the fun of cooking anyway.
Serving Suggestions
This recipe was developed to be used for my Ultimate Smash Burgers, and really shines with that recipe. They are the best burgers ever!
It could also be used as a dipping sauce for my Oven Roasted Potatoes. These are great paired with the burgers linked above, too.
Or skip the pickles and slaw on my Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich and use this sauce instead!

This is one hell of a burger sauce! It’s far and away the best one I’ve ever tried. It’s perfectly balanced with just the right amount of acidity and fat. And the use of pickled okra is truly inspired because it adds a perfect amount of sweetness that keeps everything else in check. Highly recommend this one!

Thanks! I’m so glad you liked it. I pretty much keep pickled okra in the fridge just so I can make a batch of this.
